Sudden-impact emergencies happen all over the world. According to reliefweb.int 95 million people were affected by natural disasters in 2019. Our World in Data puts the global death toll average from terrorist attacks over the last decade at 21,000 people a year, not counting the wounded and the loved ones left behind. Every single person impacted by these events deserves our care and protection. Unfortunately, in these situations, affected areas are often unstable for humanitarian work, even dangerous.

In 1864, the Geneva Convention adopted protections for personnel treating the sick and wounded in combat zones. But those codes are no longer respected in many areas of the world and medics have had to evolve in order to protect themselves and their patients.

We are not combatants. But we do train, armed and unarmed. We train so that when we enter unstable disaster areas we can serve without being a liability. We also offer security protection services to other non-profits doing high-risk humanitarian work. We want to be there, doing the work, when people need help and hope the most.
