Today is our last day of training here on the Southern coast of Costa Rica. Our founder, Nolan, has spent the week facilitating training in Dominical for the Costa Ballena Guardavidas. Daniel, our lead instructor, is on his first trip with West Coast Rescue and it has been our privilege to have him traveling with us. Daniel has a background in emergency medicine, but is also fluent in Spanish. Training in Spanish is often more thorough and precise than when you are working with an interpreter. We appreciate him taking the time to invest in the Costa Ballena Guardavidas. With his help, they have been able to sharpen their Patient Assessment and CPR skills in such a short period of time.

We also had the privilege of seeing, again, why the lifeguards are such respected professionals in their communities. Today, we responded with one of the lifeguards to a nearby motorcycle accident.

Earlier in the week, Daniel assisted one of the lifeguards in assessing a patient that had been brought to the police station by a local taxi. Another day, a young girl was spotted in distress and rescued while we were setting up some of the new equipment we had brought. Daniel has also done a great job of photographing and taking video of our trip. Check out our social media pages to see some of his work, including a video of the rescue.

As always, thank you for supporting us, as we work to support those answering the call in their local communities. If you are interested in donating, please visit https://westcoastrescue.kindful.com
